Franks cultivators differed from most motor cultivators in that the operator sat directly over the plow gangs, rather than in the rearward
position commonly used. The two levers toward the bottom of the steering column regulated the plow depth, and the steerable gangs were manipulated with the feet. Note the disk hillers on this model as compared to the sweeps generally used in the Northern states.
history
On the basis of U.S. Patent 1,174,842, the Franks company was organized in Owensboro, Kentucky in 1917. Apparently, the Franks cultivator was a short-lived venture as there is little more known about the tractor or the company aside from a few articles announcing the machine.
